Paradise in the Nicoya Peninsula

The southern Nicoya Peninsula, until recently a destination a little too far off the beaten path for most travelers, has long been one of Costa Rica's most secluded gems. Roads here were virtually non-existent a few years ago and access was primarily by boat from the port town of Punta Renas. Recent improvements to Costa Rica’s transportation infrastructure, including a new road, have made it possible for visitors to reach this tropical paradise – and they are truly blown away by the natural riches they experience when they arrive here.
The mountains of the hilly interior sweep down to the Pacific Ocean, creating some of the most beautiful and solitary beaches of Costa Rica. Rivers and waterfalls form part of the scenery and wildlife is preserved in various reserves with a biological corridor connecting back to the mountains. Many animals you’ll find around here are seasonal commuters who migrate between different ecosystems. While Guanacaste is known for its dry climate, the southern Nicoya Peninsula receives more rain, making it a transitional zone between dry forest climate and tropical rain forest – which makes it an even more exciting destination for Culturious explorers who want to experience the true essence of this natural wonderland.
